The Lighthouse Club was first established in England in 1956, to promote good fellowship among its members who work in or are associated with the construction industry and to provide charitable assistance to those in need within the construction industry and to their dependents where a fatality has occurred. Following its expansion into other countries or territories virtually the World, the Lighthouse Club was established in Asia in 1986 in Hong Kong where an voluntary workshop was registered.Remotervoluntary branches were subsequently registered or incorporated elsewhere in the Asia Pacific region. Membership of the Lighthouse Club provides the opportunity for companies and individuals unwrinkled to be recognized as proactive supporters of safety in the construction industry and the provision of financial assistance to those less fortunate who are related to the construction industry and are directly unauthentic by accidents and illness. The Lighthouse Club has worked charities to squire those in need by providing financial aid to distressed families within the construction industry and assistance with the education of their children. It moreover urgently promotes construction site safety through the presentation of safety awards to individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to the resurgence of safety on their projects. Membership of the Lighthouse Club is therefore the vehicle of nomination for those companies associated with the construction industry to demonstrate their contributions to Corporate Social Responsibility. Membership of the Lighthouse Club moreover provides the opportunity for social or merchantry networking through participation in or ubiety at the various functions, seminars and forums held throughout the year both locally and regionally. The Lighthouse Club moreover organizes conferences and seminars tent a wholesale range of topics of interest to those associated with the construction industry and for which discounted fees are misogynist to Members who wish to attend. The Lighthouse Club charities goody from the proceeds of all events and functions organized by the Lighthouse Club. The Lighthouse Club Asia Pacific Region has workshop Members and/or Individual and Corporate Members and/or Lighthouse Club groups in Bangkok, Brisbane, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Manila, Pattaya, Phuket, Singapore and Vietnam and provides reciprocal membership benefits as between branches, whether informal or formally established, for visiting Individual Members or nominees of Corporate Members and upon relocation. Each Individual Member and the nominees of each Corporate Member will receive “The Lighthouse” magazine which provides full details of the activities of the Lighthouse Club throughout the Asia Pacific Region. Following on from the establishment of Lighthouse Club groups/branches in Hong Kong, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, the Lighthouse Club Asia Pacific Region was established in 1998 with the objectives: • to support and, when necessary, coordinate the work of charitable assistance which is undertaken by the branches of the Lighthouse Club established in a country or territory within the Asia Pacific Region (i.e. within the geographical zone of Asia, Australasia, the Pacific Islands and North and South America); • to promote the establishment of remoter branches of the Lighthouse Club in the Asia Pacific Region; and • to promote good fellowship between the members and branches of the Lighthouse Club in the Asia Pacific Region. In wing to Hong Kong, where the Lighthouse Club Hong KongWorkshopis a legally registered association, voluntary Lighthouse Clubs have been legally registered or incorporated in Australia, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Manila and Singapore. However, there are countries in Asia where the establishment of a legally constituted voluntary Lighthouse Club with the traditional Lighthouse Club objectives of good fellowship and tenderheartedness is either not possible or impracticable having regard to local regulations. Consequently, members of the construction industries in those countries who would like to participate in the Lighthouse Club’s objectives of fellowship and tenderheartedness as Lighthouse Club Members are unable to do so save through the insemination of unofficial Lighthouse Club groups. In order for members of the unofficial groups and individuals, companies or businesses in those countries without a legally constituted workshop of the Lighthouse Club to be worldly-wise to join a properly constituted Lighthouse Club, the Lighthouse Club Asia Pacific Region has formally reverted its constitution (which is registered in Hong Kong under the Societies Ordinance) to unshut its membership to: • any individual, visitor or merchantry from a country or territory in the Asia Pacific Region, in which a workshop of the Lighthouse Club has not been established, in wing to its membership stuff unshut to: • any workshop of the Lighthouse Club established in any country or territory in the Asia Pacific Region; and • any individual who is once a member of such a branch. Individual Members and nominees of any visitor or merchantry Member of the Lighthouse Club Asia Pacific Region will be members of its Council which elects its Regional Committee. Members within any country or territory in which a workshop has not been formally established will be treated in just the same way as if they had established a formal workshop and shall be entitled to equivalent representation on the Regional Committee as enjoyed by the voluntary Lighthouse Club branches. This wattle will enable all Lighthouse Club members, whether as a member of a locally constituted Lighthouse Club or the Lighthouse Club Asia Pacific Region to meet together in their local environment to organize their own social events, fund raising activities and distribution of funds from the Lighthouse Club charities to those in need. Although membership subscriptions and donations from fund raising activities of Members will be paid into the Lighthouse Club Asia Pacific Region wall worth in Hong Kong, these funds will directly goody the Lighthouse Club charities as follows: The James Battersby Lighthouse Club Education Trust is a Hong Kong Registered Charity which is defended to: • profitable with the training in the construction industry of young people in the Asia Pacific Region who are suffering hardship as a result of the death or injury or illness of a parent or guardian; and • profitable with the education of children in the Asia Pacific Region who are suffering hardship as a result of the death or injury or illness of a parent or guardian who was employed in the construction industry. The Lighthouse Club Asia Pacific Region Benevolent Trust is a Hong Kong Registered Charity which is defended to: • relieving poverty and financial need suffered by persons employed or formerly employed within the towers and starchy engineering industries and cooperating trades in any country or territory within the geographic zone of Asia, Australasia, the Pacific Islands and North and South America, and the widows, widowers, children and dependants of such persons, where such persons, widows, widowers, children and dependents are suffering hardship as a result of accident, powerlessness or ill-health; • providing or profitable with the provision and urging of education for persons employed or formerly employed within the towers and starchy engineering industries and cooperating trades in any country or territory within the geographic zone of Asia, Australasia, the Pacific Islands and North and South America, and the widows, widowers, children and dependants of such persons, where poverty is preventing such persons, widows, widowers, children and dependants from fulfilling their education; and • providing or profitable with the provision and urging of education, stuff education and training in the construction industry for persons who are resident in any country or territory within the geographic zone of Asia, Australasia, the Pacific Islands and North and South America and who desire to obtain such education and training, but where poverty is preventing such persons from fulfilling such education and training. Members will moreover be responsible, within their own particular country or territory, for profitable in the distribution of funds from these charities to eligible recipients. In order for the informal Lighthouse Club “groups” in Vietnam and Cambodia to organise themselves into branches with representation on the Lighthouse Club Asia Pacific Region, it is therefore recommended that the individuals, companies or businesses concerned now sign up to membership of the Lighthouse Club Asia Pacific Region so that they are Members of a legally constituted Lighthouse Club and can enjoy the benefits outlined above. This paper will moreover be of interest to individuals, companies or businesses in areas of China where the establishment of legally constituted voluntary Lighthouse Clubs is not practicable. 2.10.2018 For increasingly information, please contact Lighthouse Club International Membership Secretary Jim Chessell at JChessell@BKAsiaPacific.com.
